Happy New Year!
Two similar events have taken place today.
During a work review, my highest rated attribute (not sure whether this should worry me, ha) is my positive attitude and overall bright, sunny disposition.
At lunch, the Subway guy said I was his favorite customer because I’m always so happy and smiley.
I’ve always tried to be a glass half full person, but I can say with 100% certainty...

1. My awesome neighbor Stan. You know, the one always doing nice things for me? I saw his wife on Monday and she told me he’s been in the hospital since the week before Christmas with a heart condition. He’s 77 and the cookies I left on their doorstep Monday night still haven’t moved. I’m worried.
I second all these, especially Baby Brenna as this one hits close to home. Her...
I have a distinct memory from when I was a little girl of making a pact with my best friend that we would only ever want and ask for toys for Christmas.
I’m pretty sure the pact stemmed from one of us receiving a shirt instead of a new Polly Pocket as a gift from our parents. The horror!
Last night, the memory of our pact came flooding back as I gleefully spent Christmas gift card money...
I am one of the few working today and have spent the past 2 hours checking email, tumblr, news sites, gossip sites, and staring. An uncomfortable amount of staring.
A dangerous quantity of edible gifts are sitting on my desk.
I’m cradling a box of Chex mix like a small child. I imagine I look like Gollum from LOTR when he (it?) is hoarding away the ring. Only I have hair. And clothing....
I have spent the past 15 minutes watching YouTube videos of soldiers coming home and surprising their families because I am a masochist.
I sincerely hope no one comes by my cube for the remainder of the day.

You know when the holidays stress me out?
When friends whom I didn’t buy things for buy me things. I realize said friends are giving a gift out of the kindness of their heart. But still, argh, I feel like a tool. This always happens to me 1-2 time per holiday season.
Second worse part. Surprising me with said gift. Give me an “oh, we were thinking about dropping by your house to...
You know those people who sigh emphatically or loudly exclaim (without context) at their workstations purely to incite others to ask them what’s up/what’s wrong?
I WANT TO DROP-KICK SAID PEOPLE.
Every so often is fine. A billion times a day is not.
I ignore out of spite, but I’m inwardly chucking push-pins at them.

I’m feeling friendsick today. All I want to do is dress up, go to some trendy overpriced restaurant, and drink cocktails and wine while discussing books, boys, pop culture, and all the poor life choices and trouble we used to get into.
Don’t get me wrong, I love a BBQ and some bottled beer more than most people. And I’m typically a jeans and t-shirt kinda girl, but sometimes,...

I switched up my work hours today in order to get off work early and take care of at least some of the BAJILLION errands that I have to run.
So naturally I’m sitting here eating a prosciutto and cheese wheel I found at Trader Joe’s.
In sweats.
On tumblr.
Yep.
So there goes that. Grand plans concocted at 5 AM rarely pan out.
P.S. GO PURCHASE THE PROSCIUTTO CHEESE WHEEL.

“Wow! The way you seasoned this turkey makes it almost taste like Taco Bell chicken!” - Brendan
This was meant as the ultimate compliment of my cooking. It makes me chuckle. What? Taco Bell is not held in high regard in your household?

umcanyounot:
Last Sunday morning when I went grocery shopping, I ended up right behind a couple, maybe in their 50s?, for most of the trip.
(You know how you sort of follow people through the store and then when you get to the end you hurry up and try to get to the check out before them because you’ve seen…
I always think like this when I see obviously unhappy couples, especially ones...

I am unsure as to if I can put into words how amazing you all are and how touched I am by the influx of messages for my birthday yesterday. I will get around to responding individually, but this is a start.
I had a wonderful day, a perfect way to begin my 28th year.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.

TUMBLR BUDDY!
You have been freakin’ busy.
First of all, the Christmas CD you made is fantastic. It hasn’t left my car. I love it. I think my favorite part is that most of the versions are new to me except maybe the John Lennon and She & Him (which I love), and it’s perfect. You should burn multiple copies and hand out to friends/family.
Also, I really appreciate my...

I turn 28 this week.
Now, no, this is not a post about feeling old. Because, honestly, I do not feel old, nor do I feel that turning 28 categorizes me as “old” in any sense of the word. If I were an Olympic gymnast, then we’d have a post on aging. The crazy thing is more the realization that I have lived 28 years. I remember it seemed to take forever to finally reach 16 and...
